Our Data

Our Data

Is it SAFE to be here?  Is it LEGAL to be here?

Our operator evaluates these two major factors upon arrival at any data collection location, then determines the best possible technology available to collect information.  We have many excellent options available.  Ultimately, if we can drive through there, we can capture data.

3D LASER SCANNING

Using 3D Laser Scanning Technology, we can capture a 3D Virtual Copy of a section of roadway and surrounding area.
3D Laser Scan, Borrego, California

Laser scanning is currently the best technology available to capture an area in 3D.

We scan from multiple positions to capture enough data to reconstruct the crash, then deliver the data positioned and oriented to real world coordinates.

When you receive data, your 3D virtual tour will take place on an actual 3D model of Earth, which will include surrounding mountains and other major geographic features.  You can even change the time of day to study lighting conditions.

Measurements from Scan Data

With our laser scan data you will immediately be able to:

  • Take a 3D virtual tour of the collision scene.
  • Save images and PDF’s of any views you would like to preserve.
  • Take precise, 3D measurements and save them as an image, PDF or copy to clipboard and paste the measurement into your word processor.
  • Create and save HD fly-through computer animations.
  • Export scan data into other common formats.

Any purchase of our laser scan data is delivered to you with the above listed capabilities with no additional fees or purchases necessary.

VIRTUAL PHOTOGRAPHIC TOUR

While laser scanning, we take high resolution panoramic photographs and use them to produce a photographic virtual tour.  Tours can be viewed in any web browser and require no additional software.

Get a good look at the condition of an area with a panoramic virtual tour.

Use it alongside laser scan data to see exactly what you need, and identify other items or issues which may have been overlooked without a proper documentation of the roadway.

AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY

We can take photos up to 60-feet in the air, if needed.

Aerial photography has seen a great technological advance with little helicopters, or “drones” becoming affordable.  Unfortunately, this issue has become both a political and legal issue.

Since the Federal Aviation Administration has made it extremely complicated or illegal to commercially use drones, kites or balloons, we don’t use them.

We bought a giant, collapsible pole.  We set it on the ground, put a nice camera on top, then run it up in the air to take pictures.  No question they were obtained legally.

ULTRA-HIGH DEFINITION VIDEO

We may determine the best available technology is video documentation, in which case we drive through with video cameras.

Our vehicle-mounted video cameras record in Ultra High-Definition, which captures images four-times larger than Blu-ray frames.

The example shown, represents one frame from one of our video captures on Interstate 8 while traveling at 70 MPH.

When you purchase our video data, we provide video in a format playable on your computer or mobile device, and we include the same video in archive formats which preserves as much image data as possible, in case you want to edit and process the video yourself.
